Printer Driver Download and Installation

Boulder, Nederland & Longmont - XEROX AltaLink C8035

Driver Install: https://www.support.xerox.com/support/altalink-c8000-series/downloads/enus.html?operatingSystem=win7x64

***Follow the link above. Choose "built-in controller" as the associated product, then choose your operating system (Windows PC or Mac). Typically, the first driver in the list is the "recommended" one. Select the driver, "agree" to the terms, and let the driver download and run the program (click the download). Follow instructions in the download wizard.

Downloading the Driver: Follow the appropriate link above and "Agree" to the terms. The program should search your network for any Xerox machines. If it doesn’t find your Xerox you may need to type in its IP Address and do a search.

Nederland IP: 10.80.37.5

Lafayette IP: 23.24.140.245

Longmont IP: 192.168.201.201

Walnut IP: 192.168.2.10

Once it finds your Xerox, DON’T click on the Quick Install button, but click on Advanced Install just below that. Once it opens up the screen you see below, change the Print System to Type 3 Print System, you can leave the driver set to Postscript, and for your office change Twain/WIA Drivers to Do Not Install Scan Drivers.  Then click Install and it should install the printer for you.

Setting up accounting:  Since you’re required to use a code to make copies and prints, you’ll need to open Control Panel once the printer is installed, then go to Devices & Printers, right-click on the Xerox and choose Printer Properties. Once the new window opens click on the Configure tab and about half way down you should see an Accounting heading. For "System" you want Xerox Standard Accounting, then change the Print Time Prompt to Do Not Prompt, and finally enter your code in the User ID field. You can leave Account Type and Account ID alone.

Issues we've run into -

Mac users: You may need to upgrade to the latest software for the printer to work properly.

PC users: If you've followed the above directions and the driver is downloaded and the printer is selected for use but still won't work -

Open your Control Panel > Devices and Printers > (you should see the printer if the driver has been correctly downloaded) Right click on the appropriate printer > Click 'Printer Properties' > Click 'Ports' > Make sure the correct printer is selected from the list ( Correct IP Address and 'Standard TCP/IP Port' version) > Click 'Configure Port' > Make sure 'SNMP Status Enabled' is NOT checked!! If it WAS checked, this should solve the problem and you should now be able to print.

Accounting: Most PCs will prompt for accounting code upon download and should save for next time.

Follow directions below to set up accounting on a MAC:

Open a PDF

File > Print

Click 'Printer' in the bottom left corner to open MAC's print dialog box.

Select Xerox machine you will be using

From the 'Layout' drop down, select 'Xerox Features'

On this page, choose the default settings you'd prefer (most preferred is single sided printing on plain paper)

         - If preferred, use the drop down 'Paper Output' to go into 'Image Options' and select 'Xerox Black and White' as your default.

Under the 'Xerox Features' drop down, in the 'Paper Output' drop down, select 'Accounting'

Under 'Accounting System', select 'Xerox Standard Accounting'

Under 'Accounting Prompt', select 'Do Not Prompt' (staff computers will need to be on 'Always Prompt', to type in appropriate codes each time)

Under 'Default User ID', type in appropriate copy code and click OK.

Under 'Presets', specify 'Save Current Settings', type 'Xerox BW' or 'Xerox Color', depending on the default settings you chose earlier.

You'll then be taken back to the program's print dialog box (PDF), where you can specify your number of copies, etc.
